WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Hanover women's cross country team competed at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships Friday afternoon and finished 11th overall in the team's second meet of the season.
The Panthers finished with a team score of 241. The overall team title went to DePauw. The Tigers won the Women's Little State Championship with a team score of 62 to finish 30 points ahead of second place finished University of Indianapolis (92).
Hanover's top five runners finished in the exact same order as they did in the team's opening meet two weeks ago. Junior Morgan Hamilton (Centerville, Ind.) led the Panthers for the second straight meet. Hamilton finished in 34th place with a time of 26:45.5.
Sophomore Ariel Barlow (Francesville, Ind.) finished seven spots later in 41st place in 27:18.5. Junior Amanda Stump (Garrett, Ind.) followed with a time of 28:08.6, which was good for 45th place, while freshman Caitlin Naghdi (Carmel, Ind.) and freshman Cameron Ray (Vevay, Ind.) placed 57th and 72nd overall respectively. Naghdi finished her first collegiate 6k race in 29:03.2, and Ray in 30:56.7.
Vincennes' sophomore Anais Da Silva won the individual title with a time of 23:13.0, just over 13 seconds faster than the second place finisher.
Next up for Hanover is the Greater Louisville Classic, Saturday, Sept. 30. The race is set to begin at 1 p.m. in Louisville, Ky.
