HANOVER, Ind. - Hanover men’s swimming junior Alex Maldeney (Fort Wayne, Ind.) has been selected by the week-long Twitter poll as the Male Athlete of the Month for October.
Maldeney has helped the Panthers to a solid start thus far, claiming a victory in their first dual meet of the season against Anderson on Nov. 10 by a score of 120-100.
In their competition versus the Ravens, Maldeney claimed a pair of individual wins including the 100-yard freestyle, which he led with a time of 49.29 seconds.
The freestyles have clearly been a source of strength, as he gained his other solo triumph in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.19 seconds. The junior slotted fourth in the event at the inaugural meet of the year, the Indiana Division III Championships.
Maldeney has also played a key role in the relay scene, as he was a part of the winning 200-yard freestyle squad that claimed first at Anderson. Moreover, he was one of the quartet that ended runner-up in the 200 yard medley with a time of 1:45.23.
