HANOVER, Ind. – With just over 300 votes accounted for, junior Nick White (New Albany, Ind.) of the men’s basketball team has been named our Male Athlete of the Month for November.
White is the first men’s basketball player to win the Hanover sports information department monthly award. Both the men’s and women’s polls for the month of November finished with over 300 votes, as White accumulated 46 percent of the 309 ballots on the men’s side.
The junior made the first five starts of his career during the opening month of the basketball season, helping Hanover to its second straight 4-1 start, with the team spending the entire month inside the top 10 of the D3hoops.com National Top 25 poll.
White averaged 14.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game during the opening stretch of the 2017-18 campaign. He was first on the team in rebounding and blocked shots, while also ranking second on the squad in scoring. The junior was also among the tops in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and the NCAA in field goal percentage, posting a .652 shooting clip.
The New Albany, Ind. native recorded double-digit point totals in all five Novembers games, while adding at least seven rebounds on four occasions. He also tallied a career high three blocks in the 84-83 win over nationally-ranked Ohio Wesleyan.
On the season, Hanover is currently 6-2 overall and 2-1 in HCAC play. White is averaging 11.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, to go along with a conference-best 1.6 blocks per contest.
