HANOVER, Ind. – Sophomore Maddie Cody (Brownsburg, Ind.) of the women’s golf team has been voted on by the fans as the Hanover Female Athlete of the Month for September.
Cody, who competed in each of Hanover’s five events during the month of September, logged two individual victories and four top 30 finishes. The sophomore also finished with a team best scoring average of 81.56.
In the opening tournament of the season, the Olivet (Mich.) Labor Day Classic, Cody set a new career best for a single round (75) en route to her lowest 36-hole tournament score of her career at Hanover (154). The sophomore earned the individual medalist honors in the field of 34 golfers, while also winning the HCAC Player of the Week award.
Her second victory this fall came at the Franklin Invitational on Sept. 30. In the one-round event, Cody logged a score of 80 to win by two strokes over teammate Sam Pease (Cincinnati, Ohio).
The sophomore added a 12th place finish in the Hanover Invitational, as she helped lead the Panthers to the first of two team victories in the month of September. Hanover also won the Franklin Fall Invite.
Cody finished the opening month of the 2017-18 season with an individual win-loss record of 240-68, a 0.779 winning percentage.
With 443 votes accounted for, Cody registered 31 percent of the overall ballots. Cody tallied over 135 votes to earn the year’s first female monthly award.
