HANOVER, Ind. – With a total of 303 votes accounted for, junior men’s soccer player Tanner Korfhagen (Cincinnati, Ohio) has been named Hanover’s Male Athlete of the Month for September.
Korfhagen fit right into the Panther offensive attack, recording a team high six goals and 13 points over his first month with the Blue and Red.
Highlighting his debut month with Hanover was a game-winning goal against Wabash (Ind.) on Sept. 10. Korfhagen’s overtime goal also helped lead him to his first career HCAC Player of the Week award. The junior also played a role in the game-winning score of HC’s 1-0 overtime win at Manchester, as he logged the assist on the match’s lone goal.
Arguably the best game of his young HC career came in a 4-0 win over Spalding (Ky.), where he posted five points, registering two goals and one assist. The big day was part of a stretch that saw Korfhagen record at least one goal in five of six consecutive contests.
Hanover finished the opening month of the 2017 season with a 6-3-0 record, marking the second consecutive season the team posted at least six wins in its first nine matches.
Korfhagen finished with 43 percent of the votes during the week long poll on Hanover Athletics’ twitter page (@HanoverPanthers). The junior registered over 125 of the total votes.
