HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover track & field programs have announced the date for the upcoming Boomtown Throws Clinic.
The Blue and Red will host student-athletes for a one-day instructional session on Sunday, January 14, with a goal to develop and inform the participants' throwing routines.
The camp will be from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and registration can be done online prior to the start of camp. The cost is $60 per camper, and coaches ask that athletes please bring throwing shoes, water, snacks, and throwing implements.
Under the instruction of head coach Brian Power and throws coach James Hautman, participants will spend their time between an experiential setting and a classroom environment, where student-athletes will learn training and conditioning methods. Moreover, they'll discuss the psychological and physiological impacts of training and competition.
The Panthers have seen a lot of success in their throwing the last few seasons, particularly on the women's side. Since 2013, under the guidance of Power and Hautman, all of the Hanover women's throwing records have been broken.
Overall, the women have recorded top three finishes at the HCAC Indoor Championships in four of the last five seasons including first place at the 2017 meet. The Blue and Red were also co-champions at the 2017 HCAC Outdoor Championships.
On the men's side, the team has seen gradual improvement over the past several years. In the HCAC Indoor Championships, they've recorded top five finishes each of the past three seasons including a third-place finish in 2016.
