HANOVER, Ind. – The year 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of Hanover College's sponsorship of women's intercollegiate sports and has been deemed "The Year of Women's Athletics."
The interactive timeline is the first part of a year long series that will showcase the milestones, top moments, outstanding accomplishments and key figures in Hanover sports.
The timeline provides an overview of major moments in Hanover College women's sports history dating back to the 1900's and traveling through time to current day.
Throughout the course of 50 years the Panthers have continued to be at the forefront of the women's athletic movement adding several intercollegiate sports giving women the opportunity to showcase their talents. Hanover burst onto the national scene with the addition of field hockey in 1961 that provided the Blue and Red their first national competitor in Hall of Fame honoree, Susan Weimer. The success has spanned the length of time as the Panthers have tallied 53 conference championships and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances.
