Tyler Jester enters the 2018-19 academic year in his third full year at Hanover College. He was hired as the sports information director in February 2016.
Jester, a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), directs the coverage of Hanover’s 22 varsity athletic programs, including compiling and disseminating information about the Panthers to the media, community and opposing institutions. He also coordinates the department’s efforts on their various social media platforms and is a liaison with the College’s Office for Communications and Marketing.
Since taking over as the sports information director at Hanover, Jester has helped increased the athletic department’s presence on social media, as well as lead the launch of a new athletics website (athletics.hanover.edu).
Behind the efforts of Jester and the rest of the sports information staff, the Hanover Athletics social media accounts are ranked among the top 25 nationally, according to index scores on d3socialmedia.com. The Panthers also have the highest rated index score of any institution in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
During the 2016-17 academic year, Jester received national recognition from CoSIDA for his coverage of the Hanover men’s basketball program. He was awarded with the best winter game notes in the College Division, which includes NCAA Division II and III institutions, as well as NAIA and junior colleges.
Prior to taking his current role at Hanover, Jester spent two and half years in the Ohio Dominican University sports information office as an intern and graduate assistant. During his time at ODU, Jester was the primary contact for the men’s and women’s cross country, golf, soccer, and track & field teams, as well as the men’s basketball and softball programs.
Jester earned his Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Bowling Green State University (Ohio) in May 2014, where he studied in the sport management and general business fields.
The West Jefferson, Ohio native is also currently finishing his Master’s of Science degree in the Sport Management program at Ohio Dominican.
