HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover football freshman, Kyle Treber (Mishawaka, Ind.), has garnered national recognition after his defensive performance this past weekend.
Treber, who was named HCAC Defensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon, was announced Tuesday morning as being a part of the D3football.com National Team of the Week.
The freshman made 20 tackles in last Saturday's 31-28 victory over Bluffton, while also tallying two tackles for a loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one pass break up.
During Bluffton's final drive, where they had already advanced the ball to midfield, Treber helped end the threat with a sack, followed by a forced fumble on the final play of the game.
Treber currently leads the HCAC in tackles per game, 12.8, while his mark is also fifth best in NCAA Division III. The freshman linebacker has made 20 stops in two of his first six games with Hanover, while posting double digit tackles in four contests.
Hanover (2-4, 2-2 HCAC) will look for its second straight victory when they travel to face Earlham at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21.
