HANOVER, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has released the 2021 football schedule featuring a seven-game slate. The 2021 campaign will see the Panthers in pursuit of their third consecutive title.
Hanover is coming off a 2019 campaign that saw them go 9-2 overall, including a perfect 7-0 mark in conference action. The Panthers claimed their second consecutive HCAC title and earned the automatic bid into the NCAA Division III National Playoffs.
Hanover, under the guidance of head coach Matt Theobald, will kick-off the season on Saturday, February 27 with a trip north to Anderson University. A match-up last season that saw the Blue and Red topple the Ravens in dominant fashion.
The Panther then return to the confines of Alumni Stadium for their home opener with Mt. St. Joseph, slated for Saturday, March 6. The contest will be the first football game played on the newly installed synthetic turf within Alumni Stadium.
On Saturday, March 13, Hanover heads north to take on Defiance College before returning to C. Wayne Perry Field on Saturday, March 20 to face-off with the Beavers of Bluffton University. Last season, the Blue and Red defeated the Beavers 28-10 behind a two-touchdown performance by senior running back, Shawn Coane (Evansville, Ind. / North).
Hanover will also welcome Rose-Hulman on Saturday, March 27 before traveling to Manchester on Saturday, April 3.
The regular season will conclude on Saturday, April 10 with the playing of the 90th Victory Bell Game featuring the Panthers and Grizzlies of Franklin. Hanover enters the contest winners of two straight and holds the slim 44-42-3 series record.
