HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's basketball team has won the five-team poll for HeroSports NCAA Division III Team of the Month for January.
The Panthers posted a 7-2 record during the month of January, which included seven straight wins from Jan. 6-27. Hanover recorded 138 of the 323 total votes in the week-long poll, accumulating 42.72 percent of the ballots. The nominees included Ripon (Wis.), Wooster (Ohio), Cabrini (Pa.) and Pfeiffer (N.C.).
The Blue and Red's strong stretch of play helped move the team into a three-way tie for first place in the HCAC standings, as they look for their second straight conference championship. During January, HC broke the 80-point mark three times, while outscoring its opponents by an average margin of 13.0 points per game. The Panthers have also jumped up to No. 37 in HeroSports NCAA Division III National BennettRank.
Hanover, who has won its first two games of February, will look to stay unbeaten in the new month, when they open a three-game home stand against Manchester this weekend. The Panthers and Spartans are slated for a 3 p.m. tip, Saturday, Feb. 10.
