Hanover Heads to Defiance for HCAC Battle

HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers head to Defiance, Ohio for a battle of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference unbeaten on Saturday, December 14 with tip-off set for 3 PM.

HIBBARD WEEKLY HONOR: Junior, point guard, Isaac Hibbard (New Albany, Ind.) was named the HCAC Athlete of the Week for Dec. 2-8 after helping lead the Blue and Red to a perfect 6-0 start. Hibbard finished the week averaging a team-best 18.0 ppg while dishing out seven assists and pulling in 6.5 rebounds per contest.

THE PERFECT RECORD: Both the Panthers and the Purple and Gold enter the matchup with a perfect HCAC record. Hanover comes into the weekend with victories over Franklin (70-51) and Manchester (65-56), while Defiance has knocked off Rose-Hulman (83-73).

SERIES MATCHUP: The Blue and Red are winners of six straight including four consecutive triumphs inside the Karl H. Weaner Center. The last time these two teams met with an unblemished HCAC record dates back to the 2016-17 season when the Panthers defeated the Yellow Jackets on the road, 86-56.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The team heads north averaging 79.0 ppg while pulling in 39.0 rebounds per contest paced by Isaac Hibbard. Junior, teammate, Mark Albers (Pendleton, Ind.) and senior Kevin Williams (Edinburgh, Ind.) join the point guard among the top averaging 11.8 ppg and 10.2 ppg respectively.

SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS: Defiance has put together a strong year, winning six straight games before falling to non-conference foe Oberlin, 70-69. They are averaging 80.1 ppg led by sophomore Tyler Andrew with 15.4 ppg while sophomore Sean Tyson has posted 14.3 ppg with a team-leading 6.3 assists per contest.
