HANOVER, Ind. – The Basketball Times, a magazine housed in Matthews, N.C., recently released its May edition featuring articles on top basketball honors as well as COVID-19 and recent responses. However, one article falling under the header of "Special Report" hit close to home as Lew Freedman, author and creator of the written piece, provided an inside look at NCAA Division III men's basketball with a special interest in the Hanover College men's basketball program.
The article discusses the many aspects surrounding Division III athletics from recruiting hours by coaching staffs to the demand on the student-athlete to perform at a high level.
"Schools such as Hanover is where the purity remains, where the mission is more about preparing students for paying careers in areas other than on the basketball court," stated Lew Freedman in his recent article.
He goes on to provide an in-depth look at the 2019-20 Hanover team while also discussing what a typical practice might look like inside the Horner Center.
"During afternoon practice leading up to a game against conference foe Anderson University, the team held possession of only part of the Sport Complex. Behind the curtain, the women's softball team practiced indoors in anticipation for the spring season," observed Freedman.
