HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's golf team will hit the midway point of its fall season this weekend as the Panthers compete in the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23-24.

The two-day tournament will be hosted by DePauw and will take place at Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton, Ind.

Hanover is coming off its first top five finish this fall. The Red and Blue posted a fifth place finish last week at the Franklin Dick Park Invitational with a team score of 630 (314-316).

Sophomore Austin Zapp (Union, Ky.) was the Panthers top player. Zapp tied for 11th place with a 36-hole score of 153 (77-76), including a team-best five birdies.

Senior Tony Rogers (Indianapolis, Ind.) and freshman Aaron Wade (Loveland, Ohio) also finished in the top 20 overall. Rogers shot a 175 (75-80) to tie for 13th, while Wade, in his collegiate debut, tied for 17th with a 156 (79-77).

Hanover has fared well at the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic in recent years. The Panthers finished second in each of the last two years when the event was played at Twin Bridges Golf Club in Danville, Ind.

Rogers and junior Justin Smith (Indianapolis, Ind.) are the only two current members of the team to finish among Hanover's top five in those two tournaments. Rogers won the 2015 Classic with a 151 (73-78) and tied for 15th last year (155), while Smith tied for 36th in 2015 (163) and tied for 33rd (159) a year ago.

Following this weekend, the Panthers will have two fall tournaments remaining before entering the off-season in preparations for the spring.
