Zapp Named the Hanover Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year

HANOVER, Ind. - The Hanover College athletic department has selected the winner of the Outstanding Senior Male Athlete of the Year award announced Thursday afternoon.

The award is presented to the top senior male student-athlete voted on by head coaches and athletic administrators.

This year's winner of the Outstanding Senior Male Athlete of the Year award is men's golf student-athlete Austin Zapp (Union, Ky.).

Zapp finished his career ranked among the best in Panther history. He currently holds the 54-hole individual score school record of 218 strokes, with two scores ranking among the top 10. The Union, Ky. native also holds the 72-hole individual score record with 291 strokes, while ranking second in 36-hole play with 141 strokes.

He competed as a member of the top ranked Panther team that holds the 18-hole school record of 291 strokes, as well as the team that holds the top spot in 36-hole play with 590 strokes. The success didn't stop there for the Hanover men's golf program as Zapp also found himself apart of the team that holds the 72-hole score record of 1,217 strokes.

Zapp was named All-Region in 2018-19 while also receiving Cleveland-Srixon Academic All-American honors. The HCAC Conference selection is a seven-time HCAC All-Tournament team member while ranking among the top 10 in total rounds played in Hanover history.
