FRANKLIN, Ind. – Senior Dominic Isadore (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded the team's first hat trick of the season as the Hanover men's soccer team defeated Franklin 5-0 Wednesday night.
Hanover won for the sixth time in the last seven matches, and its second Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match in as many tries to improve to 7-3-0 overall, and 2-0-0 in the league. The Grizzlies are now 1-9-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the HCAC.
Of the five goals scored, only one came in the first half. Isadore, off an assist from junior Tanner Korfhagen (Cincinnati, Ohio), scored his first of three goals in the 13th minute for an early 1-0 lead.
The score remained that way into halftime, and just over 18 minutes into the second half, but the Panthers would score four times in less than 10 minutes to pull away for the five-goal victory.
Isadore scored his second and third goals in the 64th and 66th minutes to give him five on the season. The hat trick is the first by a Panther since current assistant coach Matthew Eldridge accomplished the feat October 22 of last year in a 5-1 win at Defiance.
Junior Dean Mock (Louisville, Ky.) added his first goal of the season at the 70:45 mark, and freshman Chuck Moore (Louisville, Ky.) capped the scoring only 15 seconds later with his second goal of the year off an assist from senior Thomas Doering (Lexington, Ky.).
The five goals are the second most in a contest this season, and the shutout marks the fifth time Hanover has held its opponent scoreless on the year, with all five shutouts coming in the last six games.
Up next is an HCAC match-up against Anderson Saturday, Oct. 7. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m. in Hanover, Ind.
