INDIANAPOLIS – Hanover men's soccer senior Tanner Korfhagen (Cincinnati, Ohio) has been announced as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Wilmington (Ohio).
Korfhagen notched his first hat trick as a Panther during the team's 4-0 win over the Quakers on Sept. 12. The three-goal performance gave the senior a score in four consecutive matches and moved him into the conference lead for goals (7) and total points (14).
Despite failing to score on the road at Wabash this past Sunday, Korfhagen's offensive numbers still lead the HCAC.
With the strong start to the season, the senior ranks among the top individuals nationally in Division III. With the last national statistic rankings being generated on Sept. 13, Korfhagen ranked 10th nationally in goals per game, 1.40, while his shot percentage of .538 was good enough for a top 30 mark in the country.
The senior has also tied his season goal total from last season and is one point shy of his 2017 point total. This is Korfhagen's second career HCAC Player of the Week award.
Korfhagen will look to build off his performance quickly, as Hanover host Spalding (Ky.) tonight, Sept. 18. The Panthers and Golden Eagles will meet at 5 p.m. on HC's home pitch.
