First Half Woes Doom Panthers in Contest with Thomas More

HANOVER, IND. – The Hanover Panthers played host to non-conference foe Thomas More on Friday evening at the Soccer Complex on the campus of Hanover College. The Blue and Red fell in the matchup, 2-0.

The Saints surged ahead early in the contest as a strike in the 6th minute of regulation gave Thomas More the 1-0 advantage before another goal in the 11th minute pushed the lead to 2-0.

The Panthers (2-2-0 overall) looked to counter minutes later as junior Renato Yostsui (Sao Jose Do Rio Preto, Brazil) placed a shot on frame that was saved by the Saint keeper. Freshman Nathan Mouton (Lafayette, La.) got another chance for the Blue and Red as he took a shot in 35th minute that was saved by the Saint defensemen.

Hanover entered the break with six shots, two of which were on frame.

Yostui continued to pressure the Saint goal keeper as he pelted the net with a shot early in the second half that was once again saved.

The Panthers were unable to penetrate the Saint defense as they fell in a hard-fought non-conference battle.

Junior Aaron Stocksdale (Louisville, Ky.) got the nod in frame playing 90 minutes with three saves.

Hanover returns to the pitch on Wednesday, September 18 as they travel to Ada, Ohio to face off with Ohio Northern. First kick is scheduled for 7 p.m.
