Eppler Outburst Propels Men’s Soccer to Victory

HANOVER, Ind. – Sophomore Luke Eppler (Evansville, Ind.) netted two second half goals to propel the men's soccer team to victory on Sunday afternoon against Capital, 2-1.

With the goals, Eppler has now tallied four goals on the season with two game-winners. The Panthers finished the contest with 12 shots, nine of which were on frame.
In goal for the Blue and Red, senior Chris Brashear (Hebron, Ky.) played 90 minutes registering his first win of the season.

After a very competitive first half neither team was able to find a goal as just three shots were placed on frame.

However, the Crusaders wasted no time finding the back of the net in the second half as they fired off the opening kickoff for the go-ahead goal, 1-0.

What seemed like a game crushing blow appeared to be just the opposite as Hanover responded just minutes later as junior Chris Pitre (Belle Chasse, La.) connected with Eppler for the tying goal, 1-1.

The golden goal came in the 55th minute as sophomore, captain, Carlos Schryver (Sao Paulo, Brazil) played a cross into the box that found Eppler for the go ahead score, 2-1.

The Blue and Red defensive line provided the security the team needed as Capital looked to find an equalizer late in the half but came up empty handed as Hanover was able to stall out the time and claim the victory.
