HANOVER, Ind. – Sophomore Luke Eppler (Evansville, Ind.) was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 23 through Sept. 29.
The sophomore helped propel the Blue and Red to a 1-0-1 overall week as they tied Spalding 1-1 and defeated nationally ranked Capital, 2-1.
In the contest with the no. 23-ranked Crusaders, Eppler deemed clutch as he provided two goals on five shots, all of which were on frame.
The sophomore provided the game tying blow in the 47th minute off an assist by teammate junior Chris Pitre (Belle Chasse, La.) before hitting his second game-winner of the season in the 55th minute from sophomore Carlos Schryver (Sao Paulo, Brazil).
With his weekend outburst, Eppler moved into third among the HCAC in goals (5) and points (10).
The Blue and Red open Conference action on Saturday, October 5 as they travel to Manchester. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM.
