MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Hanover College men's soccer team traveled north to Manchester University where the Panthers dropped a tough 1-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup with the Spartans on Saturday afternoon.
Hanover (3-5-1 overall, 0-1 HCAC) finished the contest with a game-high nine shots, two of which were on frame.
The two teams played a strong scoreless first half as sophomore Luke Eppler (Evansville, Ind.) looked to put the Panthers on the board early following a header that was saved by the Spartan keeper in the 21st minute.
The Blue and Red continued to pressure the net late in the half as sophomore Leonardo Bottura (Taubate, Sao Paulo, Brazil) fired off a shot that hit the post in the final minutes of the first half.
The game-winner came in the 80th minute as the Spartans registered the golden goal for the win.
The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, October 9 when they travel to area rival Franklin. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM.
