CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Hanover men's soccer team improved their win streak to seven games as they defeat Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Mount St. Joseph on a rainy Wednesday evening, 2-0.
The Blue and Red pelted the net early in the first half as junior Brad Simpson (Allen, Texas) fired a shot in the 5th minute that was saved by the Lions goalkeeper. He would get another shot moments later that again fell to the Mount St. Joseph defensemen.
Hanover was finally able to break through the barrier in the 29th minute as Waldrop registered the game's first goal, 1-0.
The assault on net continued as the Panthers saw three separate occasions late in the half to strike but came up empty handed.
The second half was much of the same with the Blue and Red on the attack. The game's final strike came in the 73rd minute after constant torment and saw Miller receive a pass from sophomore Carlos Schryver (Sao Paulo, Brazil) for the insurance goal, 2-0.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, November 2 as they travel to Defiance for the regular season finale. Game time is set for 3:30 PM.
