HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's tennis team has announced its full schedule for the 2017-18 season.
After earning back-to-back top three finishes in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings, as well as earning tournament semifinal appearances the last two years, the Panthers will look to build on that momentum in 2017-18.
This season, Hanover will only compete twice during the fall, leaving most of its matches in the spring, including the HCAC Conference Tournament and potentially the NCAA Regional and National Tournaments in May.
The Blue and Red will open the season with a home match Sept. 17, against NCAA Division II opponent, Bellarmine (Ky.). The Panthers faced five scholarship-schools last year, posting a 1-4 record.
Hanover will also travel to face IU-Southeast Oct. 1, to round out the fall slate.
The Panthers will have three matches at home during the spring season, all of which will be against HCAC opponents, including Earlham, Mount St. Joseph and Franklin.
Highlighting the non-conference portion of the spring schedule is the Florida Trip. For the second straight year, Hanover will travel to Orlando, Fla. to compete during the College's Winter Break. A list of opponents have not been announced yet for the Florida Trip, but the team did post a 3-3 mark last season.
The Panthers will have to face Earlham and Rose-Hulman in back-to-back matches this spring, as those two opponents were the only two setbacks in the HCAC for Hanover last season.
The Blue and Red will open the New Year at 1 p.m., Sept. 17, against Bellarmine. Currently, the men and women will both compete against the Knights a week from Sunday.
