HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's track & field team will look to fine tune themselves for a showing at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Invitational beginning at 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 20.
THE COMPETITION: Brescia (Ky.), DePauw (Ind.), Franklin (Ind.)*, Greenville (Ill.), Hanover*, Illinois College, Illinois-Springfield, Illinois Wesleyan, Principia (Ill.), Rose-Hulman (Ind.)*, St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.), Wabash (Ind.), Washington University at St. Louis (Mo.)

#EVENTSQUAD NATIONAL RANKS: In the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings, the men had several events amongst the top 50 in the nation. In the 400m hurdles, the team ranks 38th in the country, including senior Andrew Strong (Poland, Ind.) who holds a national ranking with his season-best time of 58.66 seconds.
The Panthers rank 42nd in the 400m dash with an average time of 50.95 seconds. Among them is freshman Reece Hunter (Mooresville, Ind.) who ranks 81st in the nation with a time of 49.76 seconds.
In the hammer throw, the Blue and Red rank 50th in the nation with an average throw distance of 40.11m.
HEDRICK, RECTOR SPLIT FROM PACK: As they have done all year, junior Jacob Hedrick (Memphis, Ind.) and senior Joe Rector (Aurora, Ind.) each impressed last Saturday at the Indiana Division III Championships. Hedrick won the 5000m run with a time of 15:20.35, with Rector following in third with a time of 15:44. This week, both Hedrick and Rector are running in the 3000m run, an event both have previous successes in at the Twilight meet.
PEREZ'S PERSONAL RECORDS FALL: Sophomore Kyler Perez (Garrett, Ind.) broke his personal record in three events last week including the hammer throw, where he logged a distance of 46.40m. His toss was enough to put him in the top five in program history. Perez also set his personal best for the javelin and discus, posting throws of 32.94m and 39.44m, respectively.
OTHER NOTABLE STATS: Junior Darrell Payne (Indianapolis, Ind.) posted his personal record in the 200m dash last weekend, running a 22.44-second time that qualified for seventh in the event and third in Hanover program history.
UP NEXT: HC's next outing will be the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championships. Hanover will return to Rose-Hulman beginning at 3 p.m. next Friday, April 27.
