Barlow, Hedrick headline split squad performances for track & field

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's and women's track & field programs continued their outdoor campaigns Thursday and Friday at the North Central (Ill.) Dr. Keeler Invitational and the Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) Harrison Dillard Twilight.

Highlighting the efforts for the Panther men was junior Jacob Hedrick (Memphis, Ind.), who ran in the 10,000m run at North Central Thursday. Hedrick moved into third in school history in the long-distance event, posting a time of 31:52.09. The junior's performance moved him one spot ahead of current Hanover cross country head coach and track & field assistant, Brady Wells, on the all-time performance list.

On the women's side at North Central, sophomore Ariel Barlow (Francesville, Ind.) ran a career-best time of 11:47.91 in the 3000m steeplechase Friday evening, placing seventh in her heat. Barlow also jumped up a spot on the program's all-time list to No. 2.

A trio of Panther men posted strong efforts at Baldwin Wallace Friday, including junior Joe Sheryak (Greenwood, Ind.) who ran a personal record in the 400m hurdles. Sheryak ran and leaped his way to a time of 58.80 seconds, placing seventh overall.

Freshman Reece Hunter (Mooresville, Ind.) also posted a seventh-place finish at Baldwin Wallace, clocking in at 49.27 seconds in the 400m dash. Junior Darrell Payne (Indianapolis, Ind.) competed in Ohio as well, running his fourth fastest time ever in the 200m, 22.94 seconds.

A pair of women throwers made the trip to Baldwin Wallace in sophomore Eve Galbreath (Vevay, Ind.) and freshman Erin Browning (Greensburg, Ind.).  Galbreath's day was highlighted by her efforts in the javelin, where she placed sixth with a mark of 34.52m. She also posted a distance of 44.15m in the hammer throw. Browning fell 0.5 meters shy of meeting her PR in the hammer throw, logging a toss of 42.90m Friday.
