Gatewood Claims HCAC Track Athlete of the Week Honor

CARMEL, Ind. – Sophomore Bryce Gatewood (Noblesville, Ind.) was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

The sophomore paced the Panthers as part of the Tiger Small College Invite earning a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.45 seconds. His time propelled him into second among the HCAC behind leader Allen Dawson of Rose-Hulman with a time of 23.43.  

He also joined forces with teammates senior Paxton Caldwell (Connersville, Ind.), sophomore Justin Johnson (Camby, Ind.), and freshman Aaron Rodgers (Noblesville, Ind.) to claim the top spot in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:35.27.

He rounded out the evening with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash crossing the finish line in a time of 52.17, landing him second overall in the conference.

As a unit, the Panthers finished second in the 12-team field with 94 points.

The Blue and Red return to action on Saturday, February 15 when they compete as part of the DePauw Indoor Invitational.
