HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's track and Field team heads to DePauw for one final tune-up before the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The trip to Greencastle, Ind. is the second for the Panthers this season with the last trek coming a week ago when they garnered a second-place finish in the 12-team field.
DEPAUW INDOOR INVITE: The Invitational is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM with the women's distance medley relay as well as a slew of field events.
GATEWOOD EARNS HCAC HONORS: Sophomore Bryce Gatewood (Noblesville, Ind.) was named the HCAC Track Athlete of the Week following his performance as part of the Tiger Small College Invitational. The sophomore paced the Panthers earning a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.45. He also joined forces with teammates senior Paxton Caldwell (Connersville, Ind.), sophomore Justin Johnson (Camby, Ind.), and freshman Aaron Rodgers (Noblesville, Ind.) to claim the top spot in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:35.27. He rounded out the evening with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash.
LAST TRIP TO GREENCASTLE: The Panthers deemed successful on their last trip to DePauw as they garnered a second-place mark in the 12-team field. Pacing the way was senior Kyler Perez (Garrett, Ind.) with a first-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 15.28 meters.
Senior Ethan Monnin (Minster, Ohio) also found success among the field events, winning the pole vault with a height of 4.00 meters, while teammate freshman Erikmycal Powell (Indianapolis, Ind.) dominated the long jump with a leap of 6.77 meters.
On the track, the 4x200-meter relay team placed first overall, while the team of sophomore Riley Cook (Corydon, Ind.), Caldwell, Rodgers, and sophomore Cooper Hanson (Greenfield, Ind.) won the 4x400-meter relay.
UP NEXT: Hanover returns to the track on Saturday, February 22 as they travel to Terre haute, Ind. for the HCAC Indoor Championships.
