HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover cross country and track and field programs have announced their schedules for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

The Harriers are coming off successful men's and women's campaigns last year, highlighted by the women's track and field squad winning both the indoor and outdoor Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The men's cross country team logged a third place finish, giving them their third straight top three finish.

The 2017 cross country season will get underway at home for the Panthers with the Hanover Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 2. The men will be looking to repeat as meet champions after Joe Rector (Aurora, Ind.) and Jacob Hedrick (Memphis, Ind.) both placed in the top three individually last year to guide the team.

Hanover will also compete in back-to-back meets hosted by NCAA Division I institutions with the Indiana Intercollegiate at Purdue and the Greater Louisville Classic at Louisville. Both squads picked up top 10 finishes at the Indiana Intercollegiate in 2016.

The HCAC Cross Country Championships will take place Saturday, Oct. 28, at Manchester. The men and women each finished third the past two seasons and will look to jump into the top two in 2017. The NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships are slated for Nov. 11, at noon.

Opening the indoor track and field schedule will be the R.H Johnson Invitational hosted by Wabash, Saturday, Jan. 13. Four of HC's next five meets will be at Rose-Hulman and DePauw as they prepare for the HCAC Indoor Championships at Anderson, Saturday, Feb. 17.

The outdoor campaign will open the same as it did in 2016 for the Panthers with a trip to NCAA Division II institution, Cedarville (Ohio), for the Yellow Jacket Open. The Blue and Red will then host its annual Hanover Invitational the following weekend, Saturday, March 31.

Again, in preparation for the conference outdoor meet, the Panthers will travel to DePauw for consecutive weekends, including in the Indiana Division III Championships, which the women won in 2016. Hanover will add a pair of trips to Rose-Hulman as well, which includes the HCAC Outdoor Championships on April 27 and 28.

Times have not been announced yet for the indoor and outdoor NCAA National Championships but the dates have been set for March 9 and 10, and May 24, 25 and 26 respectively. The indoor national meet will be held in Birmingham, Ala., while La Crosse, Wis. will be the host city for the outdoor championships.
