HANOVER, Ind. – The 2017 season is set to get underway as the Hanover men's cross country team will host the Hanover Invitational Saturday, Sept. 2.

The Panthers will look to win the meet for the second consecutive fall after having two of the top three finishers and five of the top 15 for 37 points a year ago.

Four of Hanover's top five finishers in that meet are back with all four finishing in the top 14 overall. Senior Joe Rector (Aurora, Ind.) and junior Jacob Hedrick (Memphis, Ind.) led the way and placed second and third out of 66 runners with times of 27:49.98 and 27:52.20.

The meet was only the second collegiate meet at the time for current sophomores Hayden Veach (Shelbyville, Ind.) and Hananiah Davis (Indianapolis, Ind.). Veach ran the race in 29:02.68 to finish ninth, while Davis was 12th with a time of 29:13.70.

The 6k race is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on the Panthers' home course.
