HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Men's Cross Country team will look to continue its impressive start with a good showing at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships this weekend.

In their most recent race at the Hanover Invitational, the Panthers came out on top with five finishers in the top ten. Of these finishers, junior Jacob Hedrick (Memphis, Ind.) earned HCAC Athlete of the Week for his performance, a six-kilometer time of 20:05.2, which was good enough for first overall. For Hedrick, the last race marked five of the last six that he has led the team.

Other top performers from the 2017 opening race included senior Joe Rector (Aurora, Ind.) and sophomore Hayden Veach (Shelbyville, Ind.), who finished second and fourth respectively. Rector crossed the finish line at 20:11.9, while Veach posted a 6K time of 20:41.4.

In last year's Indiana Collegiates, Hanover finished ninth in the non-NCAA Division I category and fourth among NCAA Division III schools with a score of 198.

Rector was the top finisher for the Panthers with an eight-kilometer time of 27:50.49. He was followed closely by Hedrick who came in at 27:54.76. Veach came in at 28:30.45, good for third on the team.

The state meet for the men is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m., at Purdue (Ind.), this Friday, September 15.
