Louisville, Ky. – The Hanover men's cross country team placed third overall today in the 34-team Greater Louisville Classic held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park.
The men competed in the Silver race which was the fifth event of the day.
Senior leader Jacob Hedrick (Memphis, Ind.) made his return from illness with a solid seventh place finish in a time of 26:03.5 and was joined by his teammate, junior Hayden Veach (Shelbyville, Ind.), in the top 15. Veach finished 14th overall in a time of 26:22.4, marking the second year in a row that the upperclassmen duo has received all-meet honors.
Following Veach was freshman Cooper Hanson (Greenfield, Ind.) who turned in a big personal-best with a time of 27:30.8 to finish 49th. Just eight places back was sophomore Andy Vilardo (Bloomington, Ind.) with another personal-best time of 27:38.0.
Sophomore Andrew Clegg (Indianapolis, Ind.) rounded out the scoring with his own personal-best of 27:52.9 to place 72nd.
The Panthers finished with a spread of less than two minutes for their one through five runners and had all five run under 28-minutes for the eight-kilometer course.
The Indiana University Run Club won the event with a team score of 25 points.
Next up for the red and blue will be the #JennaStrong Invitational held in Wilmington, Ohio on Oct. 12.
