Men's cross country eyes final tune-up

Jacob Hedrick

Hanover, Ind. – In their final tune up race before the conference championship at the end of October, the Hanover College men's cross country team will travel to Wilmington, OH on Friday, Oct. 12, to compete in the Jenna Strong Classic at Wilmington College.

The men last competed two weeks ago with a strong third place showing at the Greater Louisville Classic. This week's meet promises similar course conditions to the one that saw nearly every member of the team run a personal best.

The Panthers will be led by senior Jacob Hedrick (Memphis, Ind.) who is coming off a top-10 performance at Louisville. Hedrick finished fifth overall in this meet a year ago, running 26:10.6.

He will be joined by junior Hayden Veach (Shelbyville, Ind.) who also had a strong showing at this meet last year by running a then personal-best time of 26:28.7 en-route to a 16th place finish.

Hoping to join those two inside the top-20 will be freshman Cooper Hanson (Greenfield, Ind.). Hanson is coming off a personal best performance of 27:30.8 at Louisville and will look to continue his climb on the way to conference.

Sophomore teammates Andy Vilardo (Bloomington, Ind.) and Andrew Clegg (Indianapolis, Ind.) figure to round out the scoring for the red and blue. They will both look to improve their respective personal bests of 27:38.0 and 27:59.9.

The meet will take place on the campus of Wilmington College, and men are scheduled to run at 5:15 p.m. following the conclusion of the women's race.
