HANOVER, Ind. - The Hanover College men's cross country team opened the 2019 season strong as they claimed first place in the five team field as part of the Hanover Invitational on Saturday morning.
The Blue and Red finished the contest with 35 points and claimed four top ten finishes with an average time of 20:46.3.
Franklin finished second with 52 points, while Grizzly runner Clayton Brumfield won the race with a time of 20:03.7.
The Panthers were led across the finish line by junior Andrew Clegg (Indianapolis, Ind.) in second place with a time of 20:19.1. Senior Hayden Veach (Shlebyville, Ind.) registered a fourth place finish in a time of 20:33.2, followed by junior Andy Vilardo (Bloomington, Ind.) in seventh place with a time of 20:52.8.
Freshman Michael Taylor (Anderson, Ind.) rounded out the top ten for Hanover with a 10th place finish and a time of 21:01.1. The Panthers then saw sophomore Cooper Hanson (Greenfield, Ind.) cross the finish line with a time of 21:05.1 before final Panther freshman Robert Hoegeman (Monroe, Ohio) in 24th place and a time of 23:37.9.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 21 as they travel to Terre haute, Ind. for the Rose-Hulman McNichols Invitational.
