GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Senior Hayden Veach (Shelbyville, Ind.) paced the way for the Hanover men's cross country team as part of the NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional meet Saturday afternoon hosted by Calvin University. Hanover finished 23rd overall in the 38 team field.
Veach finished the race among the top 100 runners, finishing 80th overall with a time of 25:44.79. Following him was teammate sophomore Cooper Hanson (Greenfield, Ind.) in 104th place and a time of 26:01.61.
While Veach led the charge for the Red and Blue, the trio of junior Andy Vilardo (Bloomington, Ind.), junior Andrew Clegg (Indianapolis, Ind.), and freshman Robert Hoegeman (Monroe, Ohio) closed out the scoring for the Panthers.
Vilardo finished the race in a time of 26:37.07 to claim a 140th place mark, while Clegg and Hoegeman finished 171st and 182nd respectively.
Calvin University won the team title with a score of 43 while Otterbein finished second with a score of 64. Both teams will automatically advance to the national meet.
