HOLLAND, Mich. - The Hanover College women's basketball team traveled north for the Hope College Tip-Off Classic where the Panthers finished 1-1 overall falling on day two in a tough battle with nationally ranked Hope, 80-30.
The Panthers (1-1 overall) were led in the contest by senior Alexis Nall (Mount Vernon, Ind.) with eight points and eight rebounds.
The Flying Dutchmen surged ahead early in the opening period using a 6-0 run before a senior Kristin Mills (Cincinnati, Ohio) jumper halted the run. But Hope continued to fire on all cylinders as they pushed the lead to 10-points moments later off a three-pointer with 3:34 to play, 14-4. They closed out the first half outscoring the Blue and Red 18-9 for the 32-13 halftime advantage.
The second half saw Hanover look to get something going as Nall and senior Brooke Todd (Vevay, Ind.) made back-to-back layups cutting the deficit to 21-10 but the Flying Dutchmen dealt to much soaring to the non-conference victory.
The Blue and Red return to action on Friday, November 22 as they take on Spalding. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
