DANVILLE, Ky. - The Panthers hit the hardwood with Centre and fell in a back-an-forth non-conference battle 74-61 on Saturday afternoon.

The contest opened as a back-and-forth battle that saw the Panthers take the early 5-4 lead following a Katie Hartman three-pointer with 7:23 to play in the opening period. However, Centre respond stringing together a small run before senior Alexis Nall (Mount Vernon, Ind.) hit a layup in the final minutes for the slim 16-15 margin.

In the second period, the Colonels responded surging ahead hitting back-to-back shots before a pair of free throws by freshman Callie Wilder (North Vernon, Ind.) pulled them within 20-18. But the Panthers slowly clawed their way back as another Wilder score knotted the game at 24-24 with just over three minutes remaining. Hanover continued to charge and would take the lead into the half as sophomore Lanette Blume ( St. Anthony, Ind.) deemed clutch with two seconds remaining for the 30-28 halftime advantage.

However, Centre was able to combat the attack and take the 50-43 lead into the final period of action.

The final period saw Centre extend it's advantage to double digits following a 6-0 run before a Savannah Courtney jumper stalled the outburst, 56-45. The Panthers looked to get something going late in the contest as a short Hanover rally pulled them back within six at the 5:32 point 58-52.The rest of the game played in favor of the Colonels as they weathered the comeback and held on for the 74-61 victory.
