DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Panthers dominated the Yellow Jackets in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon as a balanced attack propelled the team to the 75-45 win.
Hanover (4-3 overall, 3-0 HCAC) was paced by senior Alexis Nall (Mount Vernon, Ind.) with a game-high 20 points and nine rebounds, while teammates junior Savannah Courtney (Lawrenceburg, Ky.) added 10 points and senior Katie Hartman (Madison, Ind.) nine points.
The Panthers opened the contest firing on all cylinders using a 16-0 run over a four minute span to claim the 24-6 advantage. Senior Alexis Nall (Mount Vernon, Ind.) spear headed the charge netting 12 first quarter points. The Blue and Red shot 58 percent from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point.
The Yellow Jackets responded in the second stanza pulling within 26-12 before senior Kristin Mills (Cincinnati, Ohio) hit a jump shot at the 8:27 mark to steal the momentum. The streak continued as senior Brooke Todd (Vevay, Ind.) connected from deep to propel the Panthers to the convincing 41-18 halftime advantage.
The second half saw the Blue and Red extend their lead with another run getting contributions from sophomore Lanette Blume (St. Anthony, Ind.) and freshman Callie Wilder (North Vernon, Ind.) to blow the game wide open, 54-22. Freshman Anna Bauer (Indianapolis, Ind.) would make her way into the score's column late in the third quarter to help guide Hanover to the 60-28 lead.
The Panthers would go on to shoot 45.2 percent from the floor and connect on 32 points off turnovers en route to the 75-45 victory. They wrapped up the afternoon with game-highs in rebounds (41), assists (16) and turnovers forced (22).
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, December 28 as they compete in the Smokey Ballenger Classic. Tip-off with Otterbein is set for 5 PM.
