Hannah Varel will be in her second season on the Hanover women’s basketball coaching staff in 2019-20.
Prior to joining the Hanover coaching staff, Varel was an assistant coach for the Columbia High School (Ill.) girl's program from 2015 - 2018. During those three years, the Lady Eagles compiled a record of 51-32, and a won a share of the Cahokia Conference for the first time in program history. Varel, a three-year starter, helped guide the Lady Eagles to an overall record of 20-7 from 2010-2011. Varel earned Monroe County Suburban Journals/St. Louis Cardinals Athlete of the Year honors in 2011.
Varel was also a member of the University of Missouri Women's Club Basketball team, serving as President from 2013 - 2015 and earning a third place finish at the National Tournament in 2012.
Varel graduated from the University of Missouri in 2015 with a Master's in Accountancy, and worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers from 2015 - 2018. Varel was the Team USA captain for the PwC International Basketball Tournament in Athens, Greece in June 2018.
