HANOVER, Ind. – Coming off strong 2016-17 seasons, the fall schedules have been released for the Hanover men's and women's golf teams.
The Hanover women's golf team won its fourth consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship last fall, earning its fourth striaght automatic bid into the NCAA National Championship this past spring. The men won two events last season, including the Big Four Classic, and were tied for the lead after the opening round of the HCAC Championship, before settling for a fourth place finish.
Both squads kick off the new season during the opening weekend of September, with the women at Olivet (Mich.) for the second straight year and the men at conference institution, Transylvania (Ky.).
The women will use the remainder of the fall schedule to prepare for the HCAC Championship, which will be hosted by Transylvania at Keene Run Golf Club, Oct. 13-15. Hanover will be at Transy for a two-round, conference preview in late September, a tournament in which they won at Keene Run last season.
Other notables on the women's schedule include the Hanover Invitational on Sept. 9 and 10 and the Oakland City (Ind.) Invitational on Oct. 3. The Panthers have won three out of the last five Hanover Invites with the other two finishes being second place marks. The Blue and Red did not compete at Oakland City last year, but had back-to-back second place finishes in 2014 and 2015.
The men will also compete at Oakland City on Oct. 3, an event that they won in 2015. Hanover will also compete at the Dick Park Invitational, hosted by Franklin, Sept. 9 and 10. The Panthers won the tournament in 2016, which also marked the team's only sub-600 score last year in a 36-hole event.
