FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Hanover women's golf team won its second team title, and sophomore Maddie Cody (Brownsburg, Ind.) won her second individual title of fall at the Franklin Invitational Sunday at Legends Golf Club.
The Panthers won the three-team tournament with a score of 342. Franklin was second, 32 strokes back, with a 374, followed by St. Mary-of-the-Woods in third with a final score of 401.
Cody, who won the Olivet (Mich.) Labor Day Classic earlier in the fall, played as an individual and shot an 80 in the one-day event to win by two strokes over the second place finisher.
That second place finisher was junior teammate Samantha Pease (Cincinnati, Ohio). Pease shot an 82 and was followed in a tie for third place by sophomore Allison Goodwin (Lebanon, Ind.). Goodwin's 18-hole score of 83 was tied by the top player from the host, Franklin.
Senior Scarlett Hartlage (Floyd Knobs, Ind.) gave the Panthers four players in the top five with an 88 for her second top five finish of the season.
The next, and final scheduled event of the fall for Hanover is the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14-15. The tournament will be played at Keene Run Course in Nicholasville, Ky.
