HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's golf team will have its final tune-up prior to next week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship, as they travel to compete in the Wittenberg (Ohio) Pat Clouse Invitational this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6 and 7.

LINEUP: Hanover will have some familiar faces competing this weekend, but its scoring lineup does have a few tweaks. Team scoring stalwarts, senior Sam Pease (Cincinnati, Ohio) and juniors Maddie Cody (Brownsburg, Ind.) and Allison Goodwin (Lebanon, Ind.), will look to lead the squad once again. All three players have a season scoring average of 85 or better, with Goodwin pacing the Panthers at 80.50. Sophomore Emma Kate McMurtry (Terre Haute, Ind.) will be entering her third straight tournament as part of the scoring unit, while freshman Kennedy Easton (Broden, Ind.) is also making her third overall appearance of the fall. Slated to compete as an individual this weekend is sophomore Dayna Dale (Andrews, Ind.).

TOURNAMENT FIELD: This weekend's event will feature six teams, including the host, Wittenberg, and Denison (Ohio) of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), Hanover, Franklin and Rose-Hulman of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC), and the Ohio Athletic Conference's (OAC) Otterbein (Ohio). The host-Tigers are ranked 22nd in the most recent national poll, conducted by the Women's Golf Coaches Association, while Rose-Hulman is also receiving votes in the poll after placing first at the HCAC Preview last weekend.

THE COURSE: Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio will be the competition site this weekend for the six schools. Springfield C.C., established in 1898, is a par 72 track and is known for its rolling hills and wooded venue. The course has hosted U.S. Open qualifiers and U.S. Senior Challenges in recent years, as well as numerous Ohio Amateur championships.

LAST TIME OUT: Hanover is coming off a fourth place finish at the HCAC Preview event, hosted by Earlham last weekend. The Blue and Red finished the 36-hole event with a team score of 694 (356-338). Leading the way for HC was Cody, who placed in solo second with a 152 (82-76) tournament total. The junior also paced the field in par five scoring (5.17) at plus-one. Goodwin (172) and Pease (175) placed 15th and 18th, respectively, giving the Panthers three inside the top 20. McMurtry, Easton and Dale also appeared in the event at Liberty Country Club.

TOURNAMENT HISTORY: Hanover will be competing in the Pat Clouse Invitational for the second consecutive year and placed sixth out of 12 teams last fall. Goodwin led the way for HC with a 20th place finish, posting a 165. As a team, the Blue and Red finished with a score of 682.

UP NEXT: The Panthers will return to Liberty Country Club in Liberty, Ind. for the HCAC Championship, which is set to take place Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 13 and 14. Hanover finished third last season after winning the previous four conference titles. Next weekend's team champion will also receive the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Championship in the spring of 2019.
