HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover College women's golf team will close its 2018-19 season with the annual Big Four Classic on Tuesday, April 9.

SETTING THE SCENE: The annual event between Hanover, DePauw and Franklin, as well as NCAA Division I Butler, will take place in Carmel, Ind., at Crooked Stick Golf Club. The tournament was last held in 2017, as last year's event was cancelled due to weather. Tee times are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

COMPETITION: The Panthers are the second ranked Division III team in the latest edition of the national GolfStat rankings at No. 69. DePauw is No. 6, while Franklin sits at No. 96. Butler ranks No. 227 in the Division I rankings. Butler has won the last four Big Four Classics, with DePauw the only other team than the Bulldogs to capture the tournament crown in the past five seasons.

2 Sam Pease Senior 85.38 Cincinnati, Ohio / Wyoming

THE COURSE: One of the first Pete Dye designed golf courses, Crooked Stick has been home to several major golf tournaments. The course has hosted the U.S. Senior Open and the PGA Tour's BMW Championship twice in the past decade. The U.S. Women's Amateur (2007) and Solheim Cup (2005) have also been played on the course. Possibly the most notable tournament, the PGA Championship, occurred in Carmel, Ind. in 1991.

No consecutive holes are laid out in the same direction, nor call for the same approach. One may find themselves going from a right-to-left flight with the wind, only for the opposite to be played on the next hole. The course is designed to test a player's "poise, courage and intelligence, as well as his or her skill," according to Pete and Alice Dye.

LAST TIME OUT: The Panthers are coming off their annual trip to Jekyll Island, Ga. for the Oglethorpe (Ga.)-hosted Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate. Hanover finished with rounds of 346, 365 and 352 to total a 54-hole score of 1,063. Maddie Cody paced the team with a 259 (87-86-86).

TOURNAMENT HISTORY: Hanover has placed second in the Big Four Classic in each of its last two outings. The Panthers shot a 356 to outlast Franklin for the runner-up position. Sam Pease led the way with a fifth-place performance, shooting 84. Current assistant coach, Cassie Hendrickson, was also a top 10 performer for the Blue and Red.
