HANOVER, Ind. – Behind an explosive start offensively, the Hanover women's lacrosse team cruised to a 20-2 home victory over Olivet (Mich.) Friday afternoon.

The Panthers (5-3) tied the program record for most goals in a single game, while junior Rachel Davis (Indianapolis, Ind.) also set the school record for assists in a game, four. Davis would finish with seven points, adding three goals. Hanover also tallied 20 goals during a 20-5 win over Westminster (Pa.) on April 1, 2017. As a team, HC finished with 30 total points, breaking the previous program mark of 26, which was set during the 2017 Westminster victory.

The Blue and Red won the game's first nine draw controls, which led to an 8-0 advantage on the scoreboard just over 10 minutes into the action. Hanover also tallied the contest's first 20 shots. The game-opening scoring burst saw the first six goals scored by six different players and senior Mallory Fogus (Grosse Ile, Mich.) and sophomore Emma Boomershine (Louisville, Ky.) each added a second score as well. Fogus and Boomershine tied for the team high in goals with four apiece.

After Olivet (0-4) tallied its first score of the game at the 15:34 mark of the opening half, Hanover closed the 30-minute period on a 6-0 scoring run to take a 14-1 lead into the break. The Panthers enjoyed a 29-4 edge in shots during the first half of play and a 14-4 advantage in the second half led to a 43-8 total for the game. Fogus recorded a team-high nine shots, with all of her attempts coming on goal. Overall, 35 of HC's 43 shots came on net.

Five players scored Hanover's six second half goals, as Fogus would be the lone Panther with multiple scores in the second half. Sophomore Jillian Church (Goshen, Ky.) had a chance to break the program's single game goal record late, but her free position shot went off the right post. Church would still finish with three points, tallying two goals and one assist, all of which came in the first half.

Overall, nine Panthers posted at least one goal in the win, including junior Hannah Mundt (Prospect, Ky.) and sophomore Meg Finn (Newburg, Ind.), who each added two assists as well. Sophomore Kinna Laymon (Fishers, Ind.) scored three times to improve her season goal total to 26, while classmates Tayia Davis (Fishers, Ind.) and Laurel Atchison (Florence, Ky.) also found the back of the net Friday.

Defensively, freshman Jordyn Golde (Louisville, Ky.) made her first collegiate start, recording two saves and three groundballs. Mundt paced the Panthers with five groundballs, while Davis and senior Abby Shroyer (Zionsville, Ind.) each retrieved four.

After winning the opening nine draw controls, HC finished with a 15-9 edge for the game. Fogus led the team with eight, while Finn also won four draw controls.

Hanover, winners in four of its last five outings, will look to keep the momentum rolling, as they host Waynesburg (Pa.) at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 24, for an Ohio River Lacrosse Conference contest.
