WHEATON, lll. - The Hanover women's soccer team competed against Puget Sound on the final day of the Bob Baptista Invitational falling in the weekend battle, 3-0.
As a team, Hanover registered 12 shots, seven of which were on frame. Senior Brandi Brock (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore Bryn Rolfsen (Loveland, Ohio) paced the way for the Blue and Red with three shots apiece.
The Panthers (0-2 overall) looked to strike first in the contest as sophomore Anna Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed a shot on goal in the third minute that was saved by the Puget Sound keeper. The two teams would exchange shots for several minutes before Puget Sound broke the scoreless tie in the 14th minute for the early 1-0 lead.
They continued to pressure the Hanover defense as they were able to find the back of the net once more in the 18th minute to push the advantage to 2-0.
Puget Sound carried the momentum into the second half as they scored the games final goal in the 61st minute to claim the victory.
Sophomore Amanda Carmosino (Noblesville, Ind.) got the call in goal playing 90 minutes with six saves.
The Blue and Red return to action on Saturday, September 7 as they welcome Millikin to campus. Kick off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
