COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Hanover women's soccer team traveled to Columbus, Ohio on Saturday afternoon to square off with the Crusaders of Capital University. The Panthers fell in the contest 4-1, moving to 3-3-1 overall on the year.
The Blue and Red were led in the contest by sophomore Autumn Boothby (Mount Orab, Ohio) with three shots, all of which were on frame.
Hanover looked to score early as freshman Cleo Mills (Indianapolis, Ind.) fired off a shot at the 8:55 minute mark in the opening half that was saved by the Crusader keeper. The team continued to pressure the frame as back-to-back shot attempts by Boothby fell to the hands of the Crusaders defense.
Capital would finally break the scoreless tie in the 33rd minute as Hart found Stanisovska for the goal, 1-0.
Capital struck early in the second half with a goal in the 49th minute and again in the 62nd minute that extended the Crusader lead to 3-0.
The Crusaders netted the game's final dagger in the 77th minute to claim the 4-1 victory.
The Blue and Red return to action on Saturday, September 28 as they host Otterbein. First kick is set for 2:00 PM.
