HANOVER, Ind. – The women's soccer team fell short to nationally ranked Otterbein as two second half goals propelled the Cardinals to the hard fought 2-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Hanover (3-4-1 overall) struck first in the contest as sophomore Autumn Boothby (Mount Orab, Ohio) took the ball up the line and hit the frame on a cross through the box to give the Panthers the 1-0 advantage.
Otterbein tried to respond late in the first half as the Cardinals fired off a shot in the final seconds that missed wide right giving HC the 1-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, Otterbein pressured the Panther defense early as back-to-back shots were saved by sophomore Amanda Carmosino (Noblesville, Ind.). The Cardinals finally broke through the Hanover defensive hold in the 71st minute as they beat the Panther backline for the game tying goal.
The final dagger of the contest came in the 88th minute as Otterbein played a cross in the box that found the Cardinal attack.
Carmosino played a stellar game in goal registering a game-high four saves on six shots faced. As a team, the Panthers tallied seven shots, two of which were on frame.
