MANCHESTER, Ind. –A second half surge lifted the women's soccer team past Manchester on Saturday afternoon, 4-0 in the teams Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener.
Hanover (4-4-1 overall, 1-0 HCAC) finished the contest with a game-high 24 shots, 12 of which were on frame. Leading the way was sophomore Autumn Boothby (Mount Orab, Ohio) with a game-high two goals.
After a scoreless first half, the Panther cranked up the intensity as senior Brandi Brock (Cincinnati, Ohio) broke the scoreless tie in the 56th minute giving HC the 1-0 advantage.
The Blue and Red continued to pressure the frame as Boothby picked up her fifth goal of the season in the 64th minute extending the HC lead, 2-0.
The Panthers never looked back as the flood gates opened with sophomore Kelsey Hughes (Noblesville, Ind.) finding sophomore Ruby Kate Gray (Lexington, Ky.) for another Hanover goal in the 67th minute.
The game's final dagger came seconds later as Boothby once again deemed clutch securing the teams 4-0 win.
The Blue and Red return to action on Wednesday, October 9 as they welcome Franklin to campus for a 5:00 PM kickoff.
