HANOVER, Ind. - Sophomore Maggie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.) netted the game tying goal in the 32nd minute of action to force a double overtime tie with Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Anderson on a rainy Saturday afternoon, 1-1.
The Panthers (8-5-2 overall, 5-1-1 HCAC) finished the game with a game-high 19 shots, seven of which were on goal. Leading the Blue and Red attack was sophomore Autumn Boothby (Mount Orab, Ohio) with four shots, one of which fell on frame.
Hanover found themselves trailing in the first half as the Ravens delivered a strike in the 26th minute that put them on top, 1-0.
The Blue and Red didn't waste time delivering the game tying blow as Day got a through ball from freshman Josie Dattilo (Montogomery, Ohio) in the 32nd minute that knotted the contest, 1-1.
With slick field conditions, the Panthers continued on the attack as they looked for the go-ahead goal moments later with a shot by sophomore Bryn Rolfsen (Loveland, Ohio) that was saved by the Anderson keeper.
Senior Abby Howes (Terre Haute, Ind.) got one more chance before the break for Hanover as she delivered a header that fell just left of goal.
Anderson dominated much of the second half early before Dattilo and Boothby fired off back-to-back blows that came up empty.
In the first overtime, Hanover would record the only shot as senior Brandi Brock (Cincinnati, Ohio) played a ball that missed wide right. The Blue and Red cranked up the intensity in double overtime with sophomore Anna Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore Kelsey Hughes (Noblesville, Ind.) both pelting the net with shots that were saved by the Raven goalkeeper.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, October 30 as they welcome Mt. St. Joseph to the pitch. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 P.M.
