HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's swim team is set to host its first home meet of the 2018-19 season with a dual against Rose-Hulman.
The Panthers will host the Engineers at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26. This matchup will take place at local Southwestern High School.
MIODRAG MAGIC – Freshman Nora Miodrag (Louisville, Ky.) was the winner of the first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference swimmer of the week award, which was announced this past Tuesday. Miodrag placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:36.76 at the Indiana Division III Championships. The freshman swimmer placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke as well, clocking in at 1:12.47. Miodrag also participated in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:59.45 and the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:59.07. In Miodrag's four races, she finished first or second among other HCAC participants.
BIG CONTRIBUTIONS – Freshman Sydney Schulok (Cincinnati, Ohio) added a top-10 finish in her 50-yard freestyle. Fellow freshman Sydney Ruggles (Westfield, Ind.) also added a top-10 finish in the 100-yard butterfly. Additionally, sophomore Meagan Miles (Nabb, Ind.) placed top-10 in the 500-yard freestyle as well.
Junior Megan Brandt (Guyton, Ga.) and sophomore Liv Loran (Fort Wayne, Ind.) teamed up with Miodrag and Schulok in the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay. In both relays, the team of four finished third.
Overall, Hanover finished fifth at the state meet with 205.5 points.
SCOUTING ROSE-HULMAN – The Engineers finished second in last season's HCAC championship and finished third at the Indiana D-III Championships last weekend, two places above the Panthers. This will be the first head-to-head matchup between the two schools.
