HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's swim team made history Friday evening, defeating Rose-Hulman at home, 107-95, for the program's first varsity collegiate victory.

In front of an energetic and supportive crowd, the Panthers won six of the 11 events en route to the victory. A strong start vaulted the Blue and Red over the Fightin' Engineers, as HC took four of the first five races at nearby Southwestern High School.

Starting off the meet, the 200-yard medley relay group of junior Megan Brandt (Guyton, Ga.), sophomore Liv Loran (Fort Wayne, Ind.), freshman Nora Miodrag (Louisville, Ky.) and senior Jaelyn Millon (North Vernon, Ind.) won the race in a time of 2:00.32.

Brandt went on to add a third place finish in the next event, the 1000-yard freestyle, while teammate, sophomore Meagan Miles (Nabb, Ind.), earned a first place mark with a time of 12:00.81. Miles would take the second long-distance race as well, defeating three RHIT swimmers in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:52.40.

An additional early-meet victory came from freshman Sydney Schulock (Cincinnati, Ohio), who won the 50-yard freestyle in a blazing time of 27.19. Millon and junior Liz Baltas (Prospect, Ky.) added top five finishes in the event as well.

Fresh off being named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's swimmer of the week on Tuesday, Miodrag tallied two additional wins to go along with her opening relay race. The freshman clocked in at 2:22.67 in the 200-yard individual medley, before adding a 100-yard breaststroke triumph in 1:12.85.

Freshman Sydney Ruggles (Westfield, Ind.) placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:30.66 and was also a top three finisher in the 200 freestyle. Classmate Hailee Holberton (New Palestine, Ind.) followed shortly behind Miodrag in the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 1:21.11, good enough for second place.

Hanover has now concluded the opening month of its inaugural season and will return to action Saturday, Nov. 10, against conference-rival Anderson. The Panthers will trek to compete in Anderson, Ind. at the Bennett Natatorium.
